There are various Database Management Systems (DBMS) that work on SQL: MySQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle, MS SQL, and others. All of them have their pros and cons and are used for website development.

On virtual hosting, however, usually not all popular database engines are available, but only MySQL.

If you need other DBMSs, then you will have to buy server hosting.
