What is OS (Operating System)
An OS or operating system is a set of programs for managing and interacting with computer systems.
The purpose of the OS is to allocate and distribute resources between running programs, determine the amount of RAM for the effective functioning of all computer systems.
Types of OS:
- Windows is a product of Microsoft and is currently the most popular OS in the world.
- MacOS is designed for Apple products. The main feature of MacOS is that it provides interaction between all Apple devices, including smartphones.
- Linux is a group of free and open-source operating systems that run on the Linux kernel. The most popular Linux operating systems are Ubuntu, Debian, and Fedora.
- Unix - the earliest OS, others were later developed on its basis. Today, Unix is used only in servers, because despite the lack of an interface, it provides reliable, productive and scalable operation.
