Domain Payment Deadlines

When you buy a domain, you buy it not forever, but for a certain period. After that, you will need to renew the domain, otherwise it will become available again and anyone can buy it.

As a rule, a domain is paid for 1 year (sometimes for several years). The rules for buying domains are structured in such a way that a domain cannot be purchased for a long term. This means that you always need to keep track so that the new payment deadline does not approach.

If you miss the deadlines, what happens next depends on the zone. As a rule, the domain immediately stops working, but for about a month it is still registered to you. And during this month you can still manage to renew it. Otherwise, the domain will become available for public purchase.

There are, however, zones where the domain is taken away from you immediately as the payment period ends. An example is the .by zone. In such zones, you need to be especially careful and not miss the deadlines.

The idea that an unpaid domain immediately becomes available for public purchase is not entirely true. If you miss the deadlines and the domain is no longer yours, then you most likely will not be able to buy it back, as it will go to auction and there will be bidding for it.

Is it true that if you don't pay for a domain, it will still be registered to you for another 3 months?
