Teams pick midnight because “nobody is using the site.” That is the first lie. Bots are using the site. Cron is using the site. The one customer in another timezone is using the site, and they will write the review.
The second lie is that the on-call person is awake. They are not. They are one Slack ping from a bad week. A deploy at 00:00 is a gift to tomorrow’s stand-up: a mystery, a rollback, and a story nobody wanted.
Ship when two people can still read a log together. Morning in your office is dull. Dull is the point. Folio runs this page at midnight because a CMS can; your production app does not have to.
If you must ship at night, write the rollback first, and put the phone in another room only after the health check stays green for twenty minutes.
